Music Director Search

The LTCS is searching for a new long term director. In the event a qualified candidate does not apply by the end of July 2010, the LTCS will be hiring an interim director for either the whole 2010-2011 concert season or an interim director for each of the two concerts: December 2010 or May 2011.

The LTCS consists of 60-65 singers in the fall and 40-45 in the winter. Our programs have a classical bent and tend to be a larger work in the fall with some Christmas/holiday themed pieces. Examples are Darke's In the Bleak Midwinter and Rutter's When Icicles Hang as well as a PDQ Bach Christmas set. The LTCS performs lighter music in the spring.

Rehearsals begin on Tuesday September 14, 2010 at the Petoskey High School. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays .

Our concert dates for 2010-2011 are December 4 and 5, with dress rehearsal on Dec. 3rd and April 30,  May 1, 2011 with dress rehearsal on April 29. Concerts are in Harbor Springs on Saturday night and Indian River on Sunday afternoon.

The director position is a contractual position and pays $100-$125 per rehearsal, amount determined by the director’s educational background and directing experience,  $150 per each concert performance (we do two performances per concert). The director is not required to attend monthly board meetings but is expected to submit a director’s report.

Candidates are requested to submit a resume’ including references, to the LTCS by email to       jobee949@charter.net
 or mail it to

Little Traverse Choral Society
PO Box 2417
Petoskey, MI 49770

Candidates will be formally interviewed by the LTCS board and are also required to audition for the position by directing choir members in two numbers selected from the LTCS music inventory. The date for candidate interviews and directing auditions is in mid August 2010.

Candidates may call  (231) 347-0272 or  (231) 347-3762 for more information.
